Great finds and towerbuilding

This week I visited my father and helped him out with
some domestic problems because my mother has broken her leg.
On my visit I passed by a second hand shop and made some 
great finds. I bougth a greek house-souvenir and also
two fake plants. The house is made of plastic and I will
make a hole in the back and build some interior details.
I will also cutout the doors to be able to place figures
in the doorway when playing skirmish.
The plants will be stripped to pieces and I will use these
parts for bushes when I will start building wood-bases
containing 3-4 trees and some under-vegetation.
The house only cost me 1.5 Euro and the trees 1 Euro each and
this is a bargain in my opinion.
My next project is a a watchtower/prisontower and will be built
in three pieces that will be fitted on top of each other.
In the lowest section I will make a prison-cellar and
on the other sections I will place flooring to be able to place
figures inside. The tower is made of small cutout bricks made
of polystyrene. The plan is to use this tower in pirate-skirmish
but also in fantasy-skirmish such as WHFB.

Under veckan som gick besökte jag min far som behövde hjälp
med en del hushållsuppgifter eftersom min mor brutit benet.
Under mitt besök så hann jag även med att besöka Röda korsets
butik och fyndade en grekisk souvenir i form av ett hus och
två plastplantor.Huset är tillverkat i plast och jag kommer
att såga ut bakre väggen för att bygga en interiör.
När interören är byggd är tanken att jag ska kunna placera
figurer inne i bygganden vid skirmish-spel.
Jag kommer även att såga ut dörröppningar för att kunna använda
bygganden fullt ut. Plantorna kommer att bli delade där jag
ska använda bitarna till buskar när jag bygger små basplattor
med 3-4 träd för att skapa skogsmiljöer.
Huset kostade 15kr och plantorna 12 kr styck och det var fynd.
Mitt nästa projekt blir att bygga en skans/fängelsetorn i
tre sektioner. De tre sektionerna kommer att bli placerade
ovanpå varandra och den nedersta kommer att bli en fängelsehåla.

Heavy metal and streetfighting

Models looks best when placed into a diorama!
Yesterday I made a small diorama when I unpacked
my scenery for the first time since I moved to our
new house. I chose to use Cadians (WH 40k) and
some buildings that I built last year.
I also placed some trees and to be honest they are
a little bit small for the scale but it was a real bargain
when I bought them. To preserve my trees I will
soon make small bases and gather them 3-4.
I will also make small bases with rocks and fallen
trees because this will make the right wood-feeling.
Small bushes is also on the list and to make them I
will use foamrubber that will be put on small bases.
I hope the pictures will give some inspiration.
Today it is swedish national holiday and as we say
here in the north: Glad Lucia! :)

Woodland and Camo-net

Spending a whole day away from work together
with my lovely daughter also offered some time
for my hobby while she was asleep.
I completed painting my Humvee and also the recoil-
less gun and a model of a M60-tank.
All three models were cheap plastic toys that I
upgraded or converted.
I have made more camo-nets using gauze and I
have also tried to paint woodland-camouflage.
To get the right look I have tested painting rust and
dirt/dust. To get this gritty-look I have mainly used
citadel paints as: Seraphim sepia and Nulin oil and
high-lighted edges with metalpaint.
All antennas are made using thin metalthread that is
wrapped around a nail before pointing the straight
end "twelve o´clock".
I am still searching for my squad with US-soldiers
painted in woodland camo that I completed the
day before my wedding but they are still missing
during our move to our house. They are probably 
in a safe place and will be found later!?
The main idea with these vehicles are to make a
small platoon with support and soldiers for skirmish
in the cold war-era and also meeting a zombie-
threat. Tomorrow I publish more pictures with the
vehicles together with scenery.

Humvee and upgraded recoilless gun

Between feeding and baking the famous swedish pastry, Lussekatt.
I managed to squeeze in some time for modelmaking.
I have now made the guntower for my Humvee and to be
able to glue the sides I have made a groundplate and then it
was "easy-peasy". :) To give the tower a bit of character I
made some rivets and I am also wondering if I will make
some camo-net for this tower. I think the guntower is high
and to make it blend in more I think the netting will do the
job!? In the rear of the vehicle I have also made a antenna
and to mount this I made a holder out of a ear-tops and
blocked the end to fixate it.
I am also planning to finalize the model with paint and
the tower will get some woodland and the whole vehicle
will also get a "wash" of rust and shading.
The figure will be painted in woodland (US-cold war era).
I have added a hook for towing and I have also upgraded the
recoilless gun with a front-plate to be able to give support at
the frontline. This frontplate will get a bit of camonet too. :)

Humvee-conversion and recoilless rifle

My next project is to make more recon-vehicles and
now the turn have come to my two Humvees.
I have adjusted the wheels and also sloped the back
of the cars to get the more characteristic look.
On the roof I have drilled a hole to be able to place
a heavy MG-gunner. The gunners seat is not completed
yet and I will glue more rivets and also fixate the
armoured-plates. 
I have used a simple plastic soldier that has its
origin in the matchbox range 1:32/1:72(US army WW2). 
This plastic figure is 1:48-scaled but the detailes are
very rough and therefore I have swapped the head and
used a more detailed one from Bolt action-US WW2.
I will paint Woodland-camo on these vehicles and I am
not sure if I will also put some camo-net on top.
I think I will try to make separate gunners seat with
figures holding a RPG for easy exchange.
A new report will be published when all this is painted
and finished.

Recoilless rifle: I am not sure what this is!? I have 
looked in books and also searched the internet and 
not been lucky finding anything. Probably it is a 
US M40 106mm but it has also features of a M-20 75mm.
Is there anyone outthere that have a clue?
