X-mas-soviets

This Christmas a friend decided to donate a package of
plastic miniatures because he thought that their poses were
"dull". Me and my friend Andreas had a second about this
and split the package in two.I received by mail a package
containing 2 complete squads of russian infantry ww2 (28mm).
Arms, legs, torsos etc to 20 complete figures!
Very nice addition to my ever growing collection both to
be used in Bolt action, Chain of command and Secrets of the
third reich.

Soviet-armoured infantry and small naval vessels

My house and garden is now undertaking a
renovation and in august it must be finished
because our family is growing once again. :)
Due to this fact I hav little or little than less
time for my hobby and I am missing this a lot.
Eventhough it will be winter and until then I
buy things to be prepared. First up is my latest
second hand-buy of armoured soviet infantry
from the conflict 47-range that I will use for Sotr.
I will convert these charming figures with light
rocket-launchers to be able to deal with armoured
vehicles. I am also having thoughts of fit one of
these with a MG but have not decided yet. I like
these figures a lot and the hammer and sickle is
nice detail indeed. :)
My force of soviets will be including mechas,
infantry, armoured cars and now armoured infantry.
Next is a find that I made in the local toy-store.
Four small sailing-boats in various sizes will be a
very nice addition to my groving naval-force when
playing pirate-games.
I bought two packages for only 4 Euros each.
I will give these models a helping hand to make
them more realistic and also fit some of these with
small naval-cannons. To be able to have small and
fast naval vessels will indeed add some more
excitement to the game and these will also be very
useful when making landing when playing games
at a archipelago-gaming-table. I also publish the
rest of my collection and now I have ships in many
sizes and this was one of the main goal with this
project.
"Perk yer ears boys, we are going to the sea"! :)

Охотник на зомби - Zombie-hunter

Охотник на зомби means zombie-hunter in russian
and this vehicle will both be used to this menace
but also against "living" infantry and aircrafts.
When I played a game of Secrets of the third Reich
against my friend Olle I lended him one of my
german Wirbelwinds fitted with four 20mm flak38-
automaticcannons. This vehicle was very useful
against my zombies and advancing infantry if not
to say devastating... :)
To help my soviets and even the odds a bit I have
now converted a armoured car named Saladin.
I used bits from Games workshop Tau and IG and
I like the result. On the pictures the model is only
painted with a green base-colour but I will give it
some more love later.
I plan to paint some rust and also a russian red
star with the russian name in white.
I want to create a dirty and rusty look to add some
feeling. A report is on its way about the game with
Olle that was played some weeks ago before the
pandemic arrived.

Converted Fallschirmjägers

Several years ago I visited a local second-hand-market
at the gaming-club and found some Bauhaus hussars to
the game: Warzone mutant chronicles.
The scale is a little bit oversized in comparison to my
other 28mm figures but this is not a problem because
I will use these figures as mean german Fallschirm-
jägers with gene-manipulated bodys to the game Secrets
of the third reich. I got this idea to this project when
I first looked at them by the table. The reason why it
has taken so long to complete this project is that I was
short on 10 jet-packs but now I have found some on
second hand from GW and their WH40k-range.
In Sotr these Fallschirmjägers are quite fun to play but
not to meet as an enemy. I encountered these flying
figures when I played with my russians and the literally
flew through my lines and attacked my soldiers from all
angles and especially my soft targets in the rear...
I will probably also add som kind of wings and stab-
ilizers to give the figures more stability and also make them
look more realistic. I also made some base-plates using
5 mm plastic that was cut and made in a circular shape.
It will be a second report very soon. :)

Soviet-mechas and zombie-bombs

To build more mechas for Sotr I
have bought some very nice figures
from Dust tactics to make the bulk
of my soviet - mechas.
The figures are originally named
AT-43 and very nice detailed.
I already have one with rockets and
a MG but the newly arrived are all
equipped with flamers and and MG´s.
These mechas will become very deadly
against german infantry in the game
Secrets of the third reich.
I also bought some soviet zombie-
bombs to make my russian force complete.
Two very nice second hand-finds indeed.

Finally I have published two pictures of
my german mecha-force under construction.
I will probably not use the bodys of the
Tau-robots but the arms, legs and weaponry
are interessting. The bodys will be scratch-
built and I have not decided yet if these
mechas will be fitted with two or three legs!?

A nice game of SoTR

On sunday two weeks ago me and my friend Olle played
a nice game of Secrets of the third reich.
The points were set to play with two platoons and with
the support of one light mecha each.
The two mechas were equipped each with one flamer and
one heavy machine gun. Both me and my friend had high
expectations for these robotic-creatures and they
were all fulfilled. These mechas were both fast and
delivered quite a punch when engaging the enemy.
The players were russians(me) and germans(olle).
I was a bit rusty on the gaming-rules but we managed
eventhough this fact to get a fun and not to un-
realistic game. For my friend it was the first
game of SoTR and he liked a lot. To summarize, I
like this game both for the fast gameplay but also
for the fantasy-aspect and the possibilty to
scratchbuild own mechas and vehicles.
The game was very straight forward and also bloody.
We agreed to play "advance and who dares wins". :)
My russians advanced and got a lot of casualities
but managed to reach the center of the table.
Olle didn´t hesitate and hammered my infantry hard
with MG-fire but my mecha got a serious hit with its
flamethrower and knocked him out.
With the german mecha on fire my chances to win
grew rapidly but we were forced to a gamebreak when
my daughters got to hungry... :)
The next SoTR-game will probably be even more bloody but
we will scratchbuild at least 3 mechas on each side
and this will be great fun indeed.
