Finally some 15mm roads!

Finally I have managed to get some essential roads to be

used in 15mm Flames of war-games. The cobblestones are

made from 3d-files downloaded from Thinginverse but I have

modified them to double thickness to be able to endure a life-

time of miniature-games. I like the look very much and my

friend Mats in the northern part of Sweden printed them in

filament-thread to a thickness of 5mm. He helped me very

much with how to print these in filament and he also chose

a very good colour on the models. Next will be to add some

paint and shading and I ready to start playing. I think without

roads the table will be very dull.

I also printed a useful bridge and some bomb-craters.

In the future I will also make 3d-models of dirt-roads and

draw them in CAD myself to get the look I want.

In my collection I already have rivers, small lakes, trees and

flat hills and with the roads it will be an almost complete

setting when my models and miniatures are all painted... :)

Thankyou very much Mats!

The lick of paint

I have been collecting models and figures for a long time

now and very soon I will start painting both my forces to

play Flames of war version 3 and Cold war 1985.

I have a collection of germans, soviets, japanese and

finns to the game FoW. To play scenarios in the

cold war 1985 (which gaming system to be used is not

decided yet) I have : Sweden, USA, USSR, GB, GDR, BDR.

The colours are a mix to be used for priming, shading and

detail-work.

I must also send out a big thankyou to Gustavsson spel

that gave me the best service to identify dunkel gelb,

dark red metal-paint and the right colours for both the

soviet and japanese uniforms. All these are from Vallejo.

I also find the right colours to paint the swedish M-90-

camo.

The hammer of Stalin - Soviet 203mm obr 1931

Together with all the US lend lease to the game Flames of war

that I wrote about in my previous report I also printed a very

nice collection of the soviet  tracked artillery 203mm obr 1931.

A total of 20 models will wipe away almost all enemy from

the gaming table and the name the hammer of Stalin suits this

artillery-beast very well. In the game Flames of war v.3 you are

only allowed to use a total of 8 models in a gaming session

but my 3d-printer, Mathias, gave me the rest of the 12 models

as a very nice gift. Thankyou very much Mathias!!!

In real life these artillery-pieces were placed together in a

soviet "high power howitzer brigade" in a total when fully

mounted contained 24 vehicles...

The soviets used these artillery to blow up big buildings,

strong holds and bunkers and the germans feared them very

much especially in Berlin 1945.

The models are nice and the details are crisp and I will

place these on small bases together with artillery crews

and paint them as soon as possible.

Flames of war - US lend lease to the soviets

To give my soviets in the game Flames of war more diversity

I decided to add some more lend lease-vehicles from the US.

First up is 6 very nice Shermans of the model M4A2.

In addition I also 3d-printed one M3 Quad and 2 extra turrets to

be replaced on two models I purchased earlier.

A very nice model that I will paint and put in a small

diorama is the M4 Sherman Calliope. The Calliope brings

back a lot of nice memories from when I was a small boy

and saw this model from Monogram in the 1:32 scale.

The trucks are all Chevrolets and I couldn´t resist the nice

look of those and they will be used both for my japanese and

my finnish-forces. Last but not least I have also printed two

extra M4A2-turrets to convert my already built Shermans from

my report published yeasterday. When fitted I can add two

more Shermans to my main Sherman tank-force.

The soviet tracked artillery will be reported in a seperate

blog-report.

I finish this report and send a big thankyou for all god service

to my 3d-printer named Mathias.

Starting on my pile of shame 2022

This will be my first report in 2022. My blogging has been

somehow delayed during my parental leave, I wonder why... :)

First up is 4 american models and 1 soviet to the game Flames

of war. Before moving to my new house I bought 3 M4 Shermans

and 3 M3 75mm Gun Motor Carriages to be used as lend lease to

my soviets. These has been laying until now and I am quite

pleased with the result. The white dust on the models are a

chemical reaction because of bad ventilation when using

superglue. For the moment I am not sure if I will replace

all the turrets on the Shermans with new equipped with a

more powerful cannon!?

The last model is a Zis-truck that will be used as

a mobile HQ.
