Flight-stands for Cold war 6mm

One of my projects is Cold war in the 6mm-scale

and for this I need both airplanes and helicopters

but it will look so much better when they are

mounted on flightstands.

I have looked at many variants on the market

but I intend to make my stands low but steady.

I bought a big-pack with black plastic-stands

and I will paint these in sky-blue.

The base is not steady and will be glued onto a

3mm-steelplate and detailed with some pva to

attach sands and "greens".

The model will finally be drilled underneath to

fit the pivot on the flight-stand that will mount it.

On the picture I have a 3d-printed Soviet SU-25

with a heavy bomb-load for close support to

the infantry.

My first handmade Cold-war-building

Finally I have drawn my first building in CAD and

also printed it in a filament(thread)-3d-printer.

I have tested other housemodels in a resin-printer,

but never in a filament-printer and the result is

not bad at all. My friend Mats in the very cold north

has been my guide into the filament-printer-world

and it has been a very interessting journey.

The model is inspirated from soviet/eastern Europe

high-rise living-compartments and will fit perfectly

into my scenarios when to play Cold war in the

6mm-scale(1/285). The model is very light when

comparing to resin and the only negative is that the

layers are visible but I will use some extra paint to

hide this as much as possible. I can promise you that

this is not by far the last building I will draw and print

myself! :)

Cold war - 6mm Soviet- and Nato-airsupport

To get my armies going on the gaming-table

they all need air-support. This summer I

completed both my Soviet and NATO-forces

with more planes from Scotia Grendel.

The planes will both be used for bombing and

supporting the troops but also to bring down

other planes and this will make the games more

dynamic.

The Soviets received Mig-25 and Mig-21.

The NATO got F-15 and F-4 Phantom.

I have been thinking of spreading my whole

collection into this:

Soviet union / USSR:

Mig-27 (1 plane)

Mig-25 (5 planes)

Mig-23 (2 planes)

SU-25 (6 planes)

SU-24 (3 planes)

East Germany / DDR / W.P

Mig-21 (6 planes)

Mig-19 (2 planes)

Su-7 (2 planes)

USA - NATO

F-15 (4 planes)

F-10 (2 planes)

Great Britain - NATO

Sepecat Jaguar (6 planes)

Sea harrier (3 planes)

West Germany / BDR - NATO

F4 Phantom (3 planes)

To top all this above I also have swedish

cold war forces and helicopters to all 3

fractions but this will be written about in

a future report. :)

Finally I will send out a big Merry Christmas to

all readers of this blog and fellow miniature-gamers.

Cold war - 6mm Red storm rising III

During my absence in the woods building our

new house I ordered some more soviets to my

growing 6mm-collection playing the cold war

in the 1980-ies.

More infantry and especially soviet artillery-

crew and HQ but also transport, self propelled

guns and radar. All models from Scotia Grendel

and I like the details and scuplting a lot.

This will be my third big addition to my soviets

and to summarize I now have the artillery completed.

To play a super power like the soviets in 1980-era

it is a must to have a lot of artillery!!!

The 8-wheel truck will be used with my DDR-troops.

The two small trucks are both to be used but also

bought for nostalgia because one of the rare vehicles

from the soviets I have encountered was the :

Gaz 66-truck with communication body.

I saw this vehicle during a short visit in Hungary(Györ)

in 1987. Eventhough it wasn´t a fighting vehicle it

was a good memory and I also took a picture at the

location. Finally I also bought som very nice SA-4 and

SA-6. These rocketry looks indeed very menacing and

will be nice models on the gaming-table when painted.

Here are the links to my previous reports about 6mm

soviet vehicles and models to my collection:

Cold war - 6mm Nato-vehicles for the battlefield

Together with my 50 loose turrets to the MBT M1 Abrams

I also ordered some extras.

M1 Abrams leads the way

To fill the gaps in my ever growing 6mm Nato-collection I

ordered some US M60A3 Patton MBT´s. Eventhough the tank has

a high profile I like the look and it feels very 1980-ies.

M60 A3 Patton -video

This tank was the bulk of the US-tankforces for a long time

but was not retired eventhough the M1 Abrams entered the

scene and was also used recently in the Gulf war 1991.

Another vehicle with a lot of history was the APC M113 and

its variants. I bought both the standard US M113 and also the

US M1901 with TOW.

To support the infantry and the APC´s the US M2 Bradley IFV

was a nice addition with better armour, firepower. This vehicle also

has a high profile in comparison to soviet vehicles.

The UK-Nato-branch in my collection is also fitted with 2

Bedford MK 4 tonne trucks and in my opinion these look very

british. Next up is the very charming FV 180 cet engineering-

vehicle for clearing obstacles and digging.

The germans received the very hard-hitting Flakpanzer Gepard.

This is a vehicle that represent speed and if you were the

enemy during the cold war this was not a welcome vehicle on the

battlefield.

Finally but not least I bought 2 soviet IMR combat engineer-

vehicles. Not so common but very reliable and powerful.

Looking at this vehicle working impressed me as an former

member of the Swedish royal engineers. :)

Look at this video for yourself:

Cold war - Soviet Su-25

This is a short report but an important one. :)

When playing tactical cold war-tabletop-games

the Soviet flying groundsupport  Su-25 is

a must to line up on the gaming-table.

This aircraft is a upgraded version of the IL-2

Sturmovik and named the flying tank.

The nickname is very suitable because this air-

craft can take a lot of damage before going down

but also deliver a very heavy blow on all its prey.

These models are downloaded from the free

3d-print-homepage Thinginverse and I really like

the look on these with all its bombload attached

under their wings. With 6 models my Soviets will

give all their opponents a heavy blow.

I also printed some more buildings when I ordered

these models to be printed by my friend Mathias.

Both the buildings and the aircrafts will look really

good when painted. All the models are in the 6mm-scale.

If you need any good-quality 3d-prints you can contact

Mathias. He is fast and offer very good service!
