Armoured car and MG-gunners

This weekend me and the Mrs went to our old home
to clean up before handing over the keys to the next
renter of our old apartment. Before we went to "business"
we took a quick visit at the local market and the
celebrations called "Days of Eslov".In a stand I found
some real cheap models/toys that will fit into the scale
of 28mm. The bag costed me round 2 Euros.
A lot of crap was stuffed into this bag of 
plastics but also some finds. A armoured car that need
some adjustment(will lower the chassi to get a more
realistic look), two sections of housecorner-ruins and
4 MG-gunners and a bicycle. The ruins looks like taken
from a Berlin-street 1940-45 but can´t be linked together
and I will have to make som wall building myself.
The MG-gunners are copies of the famous Matchbox
ww2 set of american soldiers and I will swap the heads and
fit them with accessories and paint them in woodland-camo.
I will also test to use two of the MG-gunners on my Humvees.
Finally I got a MC that looks futuristic and quite nice.
A lot of finds and very soon I will be able to write more about
real project instead of reports on buying things to convert. 
Not easy practice my hobby when everything is stuffed in
boxes and the house is a construction site. :)

Denna helg besökte jag och frun vårt gamla hem för att
göra lite flyttstädning innan överlämning av nyckel till
nästa hyresgäster och då passade vi även på att besöka
Eslövs-dagarna och där hittade jag lite billiga plastmodeller/
leksaker att konvertera i skalan 28mm. Priset var 25 kronor
och i påsen var det en del skräp men även några fynd.
En pansarbil där chassit ska sänkas för att ge ett mer
realistiskt utseende, två hörnruiner, fyra ksp-skyttar samt
en motorcykel. Ruinerna ser ut som om de är hämtade från
en gata i Berlin 1940-45 men kan tyvärr inte byggas ihop och
därför blir det lite murarbete innan dessa kan stå för sig själv.
Ksp-skyttarna är kopior av de kända setet med amerikanska
soldater(2VK) från Matchbox. Jag kommer att byta huvuden
på dessa figurer och limma mer detaljer samt måla dem i 
woodland camo.Ska även testa om det går att använda två av
dessa till mina Humvees. Slutligen fick jag en MC som ser
både futuristisk och charmig ut på en och samma gång.
Jag har på senaste tiden mest skrivit om konverteringsfynd och 
inköpsrecensioner men det kommer snart att bli ändring på detta.
Inte lätt att utöva sin hobby när allt är i lådor och hemmet en bygg-
arbetsplats. :)

Las piratas and Conquest of the Empire

This will be my first report from my new house.
After working at the office I have been renovating
and also moving to late hours for almost a month.
Now me and the Mrs are installed and it feels
really great. I will also be able to continue my
hobby and building scenery and painting figs and
other creative things.
Before leaving the village that I once lived in
I made a find and bought 4 plastic-boats for
a total sum of 4 euros. Cheap and creative. I will
use the hulls as the frame and backbone of pirate-
ships and other vessels in my pirate-skirmishgame.
I will build a wooden deck,masts and sails and fit
them with cannons and other details. The scale is
really nice and will fit a rowdy bunch of sailors
or pirates and offer the possibility for skirmish
in navalbattles and boardings.
These boats will be a nice addition to my smaller
boats that I bought earlier.

I have bought a boardgame called "conquest of the empire"
second hand for 30 Euros and I fell in love with
the figures and the graphical look of the game.
I have read that the game include a standard version 
and also a advanced game. Some critics on the internet
write that it is a game with confusing rules but I
have been told that some have rewritten the rules
more pedagocial and published it on some website.
I will start looking for these "extra rules" as soon
as I will get some freetime.

Two nice finds indeed and I am thrilled to start working
with my boats and start making my own pirate-skirmish
game called "Las piratas". :)

Detta är min första rapport som jag skrivit i mitt nya
hus. Efter att ha arbetat på kontoret har jag renoverat
och flyttat sent varje kväll i snart en månad.
Nu är jag och min fru inflyttade och det känns mycket bra.
Jag kommer att kunna fortsätta med min hobby i min
nya bostad och det kommer att bli många nya projekt
där jag kan bygga scenografi och andra kreativa projekt.
Innan vi flyttade från det lilla samhället där vi bodde
så fyndade jag 4 plastbåtar för totalt 40 kronor.
Billigt och kreativt. Jag kommer att använda dessa båtskrov
som stommar när jag ska bygga egna skepp till mitt
eget piratspel. Jag kommer att bygga trädäck, master,
segel och utrusta dessa med kanoner och andra detaljer.
Skalan blir perfekt för att husera grupper med sjömän och
pirater.Båtarnas utformning passar ypperligt för sjöslag
och bordningar mm. Ett välkommet tillägg till mitt tidigare
inköp av småbåtar i plast.

Jag har köpte begagnat ett bordsspel vid namn "conquest of the empire"
för 300 kronor och gillar verkligen figurerna och det grafiska.
Jag har läst att spelet ska vara uppdelat i en standard
version och en avancerad. Kritiker har skrivit att spelets regler
är mycket förvirrande men detta finns det en lösning på eftersom
entusiaster har förenklat och skrivit ner dessa regler i ett
mer pedagogiskt utförande som finns tillgängligt på nätet.
Jag kommer att leta upp dessa "förenklade regler" så fort jag får mer
fritid. 

Två riktigt trevliga fynd och jag är mycket angelägen om att
börja bygga mina skepp samt skriva ner reglerna till mitt eget
piratspel som jag döpt till "Las piratas". :)

Finds and figures

Due to my renovation of my new house I
have not been so active but here is a new
report.Last month me and the Mrs. went
to the little swedish town of Ullared to buy
a lot of things needed to the new home.
I bought some plastic containers to use
moving my vehicles from home and to the
gaming club.They were both cheap and 
robust and fit perfectly to one of my
bags. :)

I found some nice boats of plastic that I
will convert to my pirate-skirmish.
I will use the frame and glue on some details
and paint them with shading and "dirt"
to give the boats a more varnished and
antique look. Hoppefully the finished
result will look more like these boats:

My sweet wife also gave me a nice present
and it was the famous game of Civilization 5.
I love the earlier versions especially the
first one eventhough the graphics were a
little bit rough. :)

I also got a gift from a friend containing
some futuristic soldiers and a russian
sniper to SoTR.I will use them
for my Apocalyptic zombie-game as a
heavy military-squad.

Finally I have bought some flying dragons
to my ongoing project: Hugg och slag.
I think these figures will give the game
a extra dimension because I will use the
as "fantasy-bombers". Using fire and the
possibility that they can move fast and
afflict a lot of damage is thrilling.The stats
will be made so that these creatures are
vulnerable and must be handle with care
playing the game.The figures will be
used in the scale of 1:72.

A lot of great finds

Last weekend it was second hand market
on the gaming-club here in Lund and it
was a real nice gathering. I sold some of
my napoleonics and also donated some
of my RPG-games to a happy person.
I was looking for some bits and initially
I found some taken from the GW Flagellant
warband sprues.These rowdy bunch of
characters will be built as prisoners to
create the atmosphere in pirate-skirmish,
SoTR and also Apocalyptic games.
After this buy I found some Bauhaus hussars
and also a Mecha.
All this will come handy in SoTR.I am plan-
ning to paint and use these Hussars as 
german heavy paratroopers with jumpsuits.
The mecha will also be used i SoTR as a 
german supportvehicle. To my SoTR-russians
I bought a american flamethrower-team that
will be converted. Some very nice WH40k bits
will be the armament to my scratch-built russian
mechas in the future.Finally I bought some
really nice miniatures to the game of Empire of
the dead and they will be painted as evil priests
or occultist. I also bought some special characters
that could be used in almost any game.
A very nice bunch of finds for a total cost of
32 Euros. :)

A simple road

To play games with miniatures you
need roads and I have found out how to
make these quick and simple.
The core of the road is made of MDF but
you could use almost anything that is
square and flat. I will also paint the edges
in a similar grey(not shown on the pictures).
The good thing is that you can easily build
a surface that looks like cobblestone.
To attach the printed cobblestone I have
used PVC-glue and on top of this I have
mounted sticky plastic-sheets to protect
the surface and the print.

När du spelar spel med miniatyrer
behöver du vägar och jag har hittat ett
smidigt sätt att lösa detta. 
Kärnan i denna modell är byggd av MDF
men du kan använda nästan vilken typ av
platta som helst.Jag kommer även att måla
kanterna i en passande grå färg(ej gjort på
bilderna).En bra sak med denna teknik är att
du med lätthet kan göra en väg med kuller-
sten.För att fästa utskriften med kullersten
har jag använt trälim och ovanpå detta har
jag klistrat självhäftande plast för att göra
ytan mindre känslig för slitage.
