My first 3d-models to print

When buying my soviet 15mm-force I also got some

extras. One of these extras was a couple of long cannons

to be fitted with the light antitank-cannon 45mm 1937

and make it the stronger M-42-version.

A thought struck me to complete these and why not

make a chassi to 3d-print and complete these cannons!?

When drawing I also completed a german and a japanese

version that looked similar.

The result you can see on the pictures. I will probably also

fit the german Pak 36 with a my own 3d-model of  of the

additional Stielgranante 41 (a antitank-rocket that is fitted

onto the cannon).

The japanese cannon (Type 1 47mm) is printed in a large

number because they used these cannons as fixed positions

and not in a flexible tactics as their german- and soviet-artillery

crews. Next task with the japanese cannons will be to add crews.

Next to draw and print was panzerfaust 60. I will use these rockets

both for my german homeguard/volksgrenadiere and soviet combat

engineers in the 15mm scale. Looking back I feel that it wasn´t to

hard to make these models of my own and next project will be

rare vehicles such as  japanese armoured cars and german experimental

tanks. Very nice project indeed and next step will be to base and paint.

Cold war : 6mm-buildings and -models

To test my 6mm military-models and buildings I

made a simple setup and eventhough it lack of paint

and a lot of details I am very pleased.

To summarize the pictures I will use all that are shown

in my project Cold war 1985. The AA battery are consist

SA and East german 8-wheel trucks and also soviet

crane-trucks. On the pictures you also see US M60-MBT

and M113(APC) and finally M1 Abrams.

UK is represented with 2 Bedford trucks and also 2

engineering vehicles. I can´t wait to paint all of this

to put them all on the gaming table! To be continued.

My first 3d-printed buildings

During the summer I surfed into the web-page Thinginverse to

check if anybody had made some 3d-models to be used as buildings

in the 6mm-scale (1/300). I found some interessting to be used as

smalltown buildings in my Sweden 1985-cold war-project.

The stl-files looked nice and this first 3d-printing was also a

test to find out what to do and what was not adviceable for future

projects. I contacted my friend Mathias and only several days later

the package arrived. My friend also added drain-holes for the

models to leak the fluid resin-leftovers but the holes was to shallow

and only a small amount of the resin leaked and therefore I was

forced to make new and bigger holes to empty the models otherwise

they risked to crack. The models leaked for 3 days but now they are o.k.

Important to know is that always use rubber-gloves to prevent the

resin to get in contact of the human skin before the harden-process is

over. If you don´t use gloves and get in contact you risk to get a head-

ache or sick. I very useful test and now I know what to draw and how to

make my own printable 3d-houses. I will make my 3d-buildings with an

open compartment. I will also publish my 3d-stl files here on this blog

for anyone to copy when they are finished. To print figures in this scale is

not adviseable in my opinion. Have a nice day!

Housefinds in the 6mm-scale

This summer me and my family spent most of the

time in a small cabin in the woods waiting for the

pandemic to fade away and our new house to be built.

One of the exceptions was a visit to a outdoor second-

hand-market. It was a nice break to visit this market and

I found some very cheap but also very useable houses

to fit the 6mm-scale (1:300). The price was only 0.5 to

1 Euro each and that is very good pricing in my opinion.

I found 3 houses that I bought but the biggest was donated

to one of my daugther to be used in "other" projects. :)

The 2 remaining looks very nice and are both prepainted

and looks to come from a range that I have bought earlier.

Initially I bought my first houses to be used in the 15mm-

scale but they didn´t fit but to the 6mm-scale they are spot

on. My oldest houses in my collection can be seen on

the two pictures in the very end of this report.

I will not use these house-models to a swedish setting

but for a European theatre I think they will do just fine.

On 2 of the pictures I have placed a Centurion MBT to

represent the scale.

M1 Abrams leads the way

I am back!!! I have never been "away" from my blog in

my thoughts but building a new house certainly keeps

you busy and on top of this I am father of 4 children

and working full time... :)

During my absence I have been thinking of my big

cold war 1985 project. My friend Michael in the U.K

sent me about 50 extra M1 Abrams-turrets for free and

my task was to complete these MBT´s.

Working as a engineer and with CAD on a daily basis I

made some simple models to represent the chassis in

the 1/285-scale (6mm). The result was great and my

other friend Mathias helped me with the 3d-prints.

Now I have a very strong force of 46 M1 Abrams to

meet the Red storm from the east.

My plan is to paint and also base these models. The

camo will be woodland because of the european

setting. Vey nice addition indeed!
